Corey, his brother Paul and our brother in law Kevin (
Tausha's husband) went out the night before and bought fireworks. I have a philosophy on fireworks, get the cheap stuff and watch everyone else blow their money up in the sky (literally.) So I told Corey to limit it to stuff kids can play with and would enjoy.
ie: sparklers, tanks,
smoke bombs, snakes and snaps.
Tausha spent a great deal of time and went to a great deal of trouble to make dinner and dessert for everyone. She made a huge taco salad, baked
rhubarb cookies the day before, and managed to make (3) different cobblers. She has really been enjoying cooking lately, and it shows!!!
After we ate we went to a special little spot Corey and I found a couple of years ago where you have a great view of the entire city and can watch everyone else light their fireworks while waiting for the city display....which literally lit right over your head. It was an amazing display this year and everyone had a good time. After the city display Paul and Kevin were anxious to head back to the Welling house to set off their fireworks that they bought the night before. So we watched their show and by the time it was over and we helped clean up it was midnight....the kids were running around having
received their second wind, and the adults were butt tired and ready for bed.

Here is Grandma holding Ashton as we let off a few day time fireworks for the kids.

It takes Thayne a while to warm up to anything, let alone a burning hot sparkler. He wasn't really into the whole fireworks thing until the end of the night at midnight, and then he started to think they were
ok.

Cousin
Jaydon helping Thayne with his sparkler. Thayne's cousins
immediately got into the patriotic spirit of things. They especially loved the smoke bombs.....so much so that they would run up to them and stick their faces over them!!!

I had to take a
picture of
Jaren's hands and face, which are covered in purple smoke bomb.

We did no fireworks this year! It was so nice to not see our money blow up! We have spent hundreds in years past, but no more! We just played games with my parents and listened to world war 3 outside!
So fun! love love love the 4th! :)
I love reading about all your little farm fun. I so want to live somewhere with space and animal someday! :)
